Since MBP increases solubility, the tag is particularly useful for recombinant proteins accumulated in an insoluble form (inclusion bodies). Affinity purification using Dextrin XPure Agarose Resin takes place under physiological conditions and mild elution is performed using maltose which preserves target protein activity.
